Why is it that all my female Sims are unable to conceive?!

I am playing with the family's second generation now. I got the father marry a much older woman and before he could impregnate her, she became an elder (unable to bear a child). I was left with no choice but to go for adoption. They adopted three kids. Two boys and a girl.

One of the boys just got married today and guess what, the woman became an elder right after exchanging rings. Are you kidding me?! The other boy - I made him gay. It's more fun that way, but of course the couple won't be able to produce any child. And the girl, she's a snob and really full of herself, so I can't get anybody to like her. She's in her adulthood right now and still single. And by the time she becomes an elder...

I've played enough of adoption, so I don't want anymore adoption business. Maybe I'll get the first boy to get a new wife... or make the gay boy straight... or ask the girl to seduce older men... Isn't Sims fun?! You can do anything! Even if it's so wrong!
